The challenges and opportunities in primary care, when prescribing Physical Activity : A literature review (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Physical inactivity is causing major costs to the Swedish society (estimated to six billion SEK per year), due to increasing health care costs and a decline in production. There is scientific evidence that physical activity on prescription (FaR®) is an efficient alternative to pharmaceuticals. With this in mind it is therefore of interest how this handled within primary care, since primary care usually are the first contact with future risk groups and could have a great potential to influence by preventing inactivity and encourage health. Personal observations of the author arouse interest to investigate how nurses can contribute to increased health with FaR® as a tool within primary care.
