Bakgrund: Testikelcancer är den vanligaste cancerformen bland män mellan 20 och 40 år. Män drabbas när de befinner sig i sin mest fysiska och fertila höjdpunkt i livet. Testikelcancer kan resultera i en förändrad sexualitet genom att könsorganet påverkas. De flesta män överlever sjukdomen men de olika behandlingarna kan ha en fysisk, psykisk och andlig påverkan på männen. I vården bör den sexuella hälsan främjas, vilket kräver kunskap kring testikelcancer och dess påverkan på sexualiteten bland unga män.

Syfte: Syftet med denna litteraturöversikt var att belysa mäns sexualitet efter att ha diagnostiserats och behandlats för testikelcancer.

Metod: Metoden som användes för denna studie var litteraturöversikt, som baserades på fyra kvalitativa artiklar, en mixad metod och sex kvantitativa artiklar. Analyser av artiklarna genomfördes enligt Fribergs metod.

Resultat: Resultatet delades in i fyra olika teman: Sexuell dysfunktion, Infertilitet, Sexuell identitet-maskulinitet och Kärleksrelationer. Analysen visar att dessa aspekter av sexualiteten kan påverkas vid testikelcancer. Männen riskerar att få sexuella dysfunktioner och bli infertila. Vilket kan resultera i en identitetsförlust och en förlust av den maskulina identiteten. Detta påverkade männens förhållanden och relationssökande.

Diskussion: Nyckelfaktorer, som ålder och kunskap, kunde influera hur männen upplevde den påverkade sexualiteten, vilket avgjorde hur mycket, eller lite, männen led på grund av sjukdomen. Kunskap om testikelcancer, samt att vara medveten om faktorer som kan influera upplevelsen, kan ha positiv effekt för dessa män. Resultatet diskuteras utifrån Katie Erikssons teori.

Background: Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in 20 to 40 year old men. The disease strikes men that are at their physical and fertile peak of their lives. Testicular cancer can result in a changed sexuality as it affects the genital area. Most men survive the disease, however, the treatments could have physical, psychological and spiritual affects. In health care, the sexual health should be promoted, which requires knowledge about testicular cancer and its affects on sexuality among young men.

Aim: The aim of the study was to explore men´s sexuality after testicular cancer.

Method: The method used for this study was a literature review, based on four qualitative, six quantitative and one mixed method articles. The analyses of the articles were completed according to Friberg´s method.

Results: The results were divided into four themes; Sexual dysfunction, Infertility, Sexual identity-masculinity and Intimate relations. The analyze shows that all these aspects can be affected. Along with loosing one testicle, men with testicular cancer are at risk to get sexual dysfunctions and become infertile. Which can result in a loss of identity and feeling less like a man and a loss of the masculine identity, which affected the men´s relationships or seeking of relationships.

Discussion: Key factors, such as age and knowledge, could influence the way men´s sexuality was affected, which played a role in how much, or little, the men suffered due to the disease despite surviving it. Knowledge about the affected sexuality, and being aware of different factors that could influence the experience, can have positive effects for these men. The result is discussed according to Katie Eriksson´s theory.
