Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: Palliativ vård definieras som den vård som ges i slutskedet av patientens liv. Målet med den palliativa vården är att lindra lidande och främja välbefinnande. Sjuksköterskor inom palliativ vård har ett stort ansvar gentemot närstående men specifikt mot patienten för att eftersträva ett värdigt liv för personen i livets slut.

Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att vårda patienter i livets slutskede inom slutenvården. 

Metod: En allmän litteraturöversikt genomfördes. Sju kvalitativa, två kvantitativa samt en mixad metod inkluderades. 

Resultat: Resultatet delades in i tre huvudteman, brist på kunskap eller kompetens, känslomässiga reaktioner och vikten av stöd och samarbete.

Sammanfattning: Sjuksköterskor som arbetar inom den palliativa vården är i behov av kontinuerlig utbildning, få möjligheten att lära sig kommunikationsstrategier samt ha en god samverkan i förhållande till olika professioner. Sjuksköterskor behöver ge patienten en säker och personcentrerad vård in i livet slutskede.  

Abstract [en]

Background: Palliative care is defined as the care provided in the final stages of the patient's life. The goal of palliative care is to alleviate suffering and promote health. Nurses in palliative care have a responsibility towards patients and relatives, especially towards the patient so they can live a life with dignity into the last time of life.

Aim: The aim is to describe nurses experience for patients at the end of life withinin patients care.

Method: A literature review was conducted and seven qualitative, two quantitative articles and one mixed method were included.

Results: The results were divided into three themes, lack of knowledge or competence, emotional reactions, and the importance of support and cooperations.

Summary: Nurses who work with palliative care need continuous training, have the opportunity to learn communications strategies and to have a good collaboration in relation to different professions. Nurses need to provide the patient with safe and individual care into final stages of life.
