Bakgrund Obesitas, definierat som ett kroppsmasseindex (BMI) på ≥30, utgör en betydande riskfaktor för många sjukdomstillstånd. Dess globala ökning har klassificerats som ett omfattande folkhälsoproblem, med en prevalens som är högre bland kvinnor än män. Studier betonar socioekonomiska och kulturella faktorer som viktiga i utvecklingen av obesitas. Inom vårdsektorn lyfts vikten av personcentrerad vård fram för att effektivt bemöta obesitas, där en holistisk vårdansats är central för att motverka stereotypa föreställningar och fördomar om personer med sjukdoms- och ohälsotillstånd och främja hälsa och välbefinnande.

Syfte Syftet var att beskriva patienter med obesitas erfarenheter av vårdmöten inom öppenvård. Metod En allmän litteraturöversikt baserad på 10 kvalitativa peer-reviewed artiklar, sökta via databaserna PubMed och CINAHL, analyserades för att utforska patienters erfarenheter av obesitasvård.

Resultat I resultatet av litteraturöversikten framkom två huvudteman; “Vikten av stöd i vårdmötet” och “Erfarenheter av bemötande i vårdmötet”. Huvudtemat “Vikten av stöd i vårdmötet” delades in i tre underteman; “Främjandet av motivation”, “Individuellt anpassad rådgivning” och “Vikten av förtroende i vårdmötet”. Huvudtemat “Erfarenheter av bemötande i vårdmötet” delades in i tre underteman; “Vikt i fokus”, “Respekt i vårdmötet” och “Viljan att bli hörd”.

Slutsats Slutsatsen understryker vikten av personcentrerad vård och effektiv kommunikation i behandlingen av obesitas, med fokus på att övervinna stigma och att vårdgivare bör anpassa sitt förhållningssätt för att möta patienternas individuella behov och främja en positiv vårdupplevelse.

Within the healthcare sector, the importance of person-centered care is highlighted to effectively address obesity, where a holistic care approach is central to combating stigma and promoting patient health and well-being.

Aim The aim was to describe patients with obesity experiences of care meetings within outpatient services.

Method A general literature review based on 10 qualitative peer-reviewed articles, searched through the databases PubMed and CINAHL, was analyzed to explore patients' experiences of obesity care.

Results The result of the literature review revealed two main themes; "The Importance of Support in the Care Encounter" and "Experiences of Treatment in the Care Encounter". The main theme "The Importance of Support in the Care Encounter" was divided into three sub-themes; "Promoting Motivation", "Individually Tailored Advice", and "The Importance of Trust in the Care Encounter". The main theme "Experiences of Treatment in the Care Encounter " was divided into three sub-themes; "Focus on Weight", "Respect in the Care Encounter", and "The Desire to Be Heard".

Conclusions The conclusion emphasizes the importance of person-centered care and effective communication in the treatment of obesity, focusing on overcoming stigma and healthcare providers adapting their approach to meet the individual needs of patients and promote a positive care experience.
