Young people`s experiences of family treatment : - about strong emotions and feelings of beeing understood (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

In this interview survey five young people, 16-20 years of age, give their descriptions of participating in family treatment given by the social service. The young people express how feelings of anxiety increase in the family and end up in quarrel between family members. Further the young people are connecting feelings of insecurity to own subjective emotions associated with events experienced in relation to parents and family therapists. All young people experience participation by the fact that they have been given opportunity framing their own anxiety and not being interrupted or get stuck in quarrel. The reflecting stand of the therapists and the way sessions were planned gave four of them inner feelings of security. Thanks to the therapists ability to start and hold in the conversations, four out of five express that they got new experiences of their own and how their parents are thinking. The quarrels have decreased and all five want to manage with school and work.
