    Utvecklingen inom äldreomsorgen har under de senaste decennierna lett till en mer marknadsanpassad äldreomsorg. Den äldre ska efter att ha fått sitt biståndsbeslut välja vilken utförare som ska tillhandahålla den beviljade insatsen. Valfrihetssystem blir allt vanligare i samhället och valfrihet i sig har länge varit ett politiskt mål. Syftet med denna uppsats var att undersöka äldre personers erfarenheter av att välja hemtjänst. Frågor som har tagits upp är hur man väljer, vad som påverkar hur man väljer, om valet anses vara lätt och om man generellt är nöjd med det system som finns. Metoden som har använts är strukturerade intervjuer där respondenternas svar har kodats i SPSS. Åtta av intervjuerna spelades in och transkriberades. Uppsatsen har ett brukarfokus och utgår från de äldres perspektiv och syftar till att lyfta fram deras åsikter och erfarenheter om valfrihetssystemet inom hemtjänsten. Materialet har analyserats med hjälp av Hirschmans teori om exit, voice och loyalty samt med en deskriptiv beslutsteori, prospektteori. Uppsatsen kommer fram till att systemet idag inte är verksamt i den mening det var tänkt. Alla äldre väljer inte hemtjänst, fysiska och psykiska hinder står i vägen och få väljer att utnyttja sin rätt att byta utförare. Generellt är de äldre nöjda med den hjälp de får och valet av hemtjänstutförare är inte det primära för de äldre.

    Abstract [en]

    This essay intervenes in the politics of urban segregation in Stockholm. The main aim of the essay is to analyze and describe how advanced marginality and territorial stigmatization are expressed in the lived experiences of four unemployed youths, that have participated in a labor market training program located in the “social vulnerable” area Rågsved. With a theoretical framework based in Henri Lefebvre’s production of social space the empirical findings are interpreted in regard to how the youths produce social space in dialectical interplay with urban politics, advanced marginality, territorial stigmatization, and their local neighborhood. The empirical material in the study was collected through qualitative interviews with the youths. The method of interviewing, analyzing, and presenting the result is grounded in a phenomenological approach.

    The historical background for the essay is the politics of urban segregation that has emerged in the metropolitan areas of Sweden. The post-industrial society and advanced sectors in the economy are transforming the labor market, city landscape, and the requirements on workers. This deep transformation process has resulted in social exclusion and inequalities between different groups in the urban city. Unemployment and poverty has been concentrated to the urban periphery of the metropolitan city. The urban periphery is marginalized areas with high concentration of immigrant residents with post-colonial status. The Swedish Metropolitan Committee committed a proposal 1998 for a new urban politics in the beginning of the millennium, which main purpose was to intervene in the ongoing process of ethnic and socioeconomic segregation in the urban landscape. This political-institutional background, within the context of post-industrial society and neoliberal politics, situates the historical framework for the present study.

    The result in the study points out that the youths are in an insecure position in the contemporary labor market, and constantly reflect their ways of living through the dominated norms of active labor market policies. The youths participation in the labor market training program Rågsved Community Center are described as a positive experience, and they describe how they are fully recognized as individual subjects of the employees. Within the geography of urban segregation, the youths are constantly in a process of mental negotiating about how to determine the space of Rågsved. The space of the “social vulnerable” suburb Rågsved is produced by the youths in the conflict of territorial stigmatization and their feelings of belonging. 

    The main result from the study is that the youths lived experiences of participation in Rågsved Community Center reflects a political need for something different. They discredit the way that Arbetsförmedlingen approach them as unemployed and lack confidence in their methods. In the social space of Rågsved Community Center the youths are recognized as individuals and are also taking initiative to help their friends in Rågsved to find a way out of unemployment. These spatial practices in Rågsved produce a social space and constitute a local institution that could be an embryo for collective representation and organization in relation to urban segregation and youth unemployment in the urban periphery.

    Abstract [en]

    The study aimed to seek understanding and knowledge about care managers professional role in elderly care. Whit that basis we went in-depth of the difficulties that can occur during the process of care managing and what kind of support resources that are available. We used qualitative research approach and performed six semi structured interviews with care managers in the elderly care in different municipalities in the county of Stockholm. The result was analyzed with the basis of theoretical reference frames that illustrate different kinds of dilemmas on both an individual and a structural level. The theories we used were Lipskys theory about street level bureaucrats, consequence ethics, virtue ethics and the concept of real dilemmas and deceptive dilemmas. The study shows that there are a number of difficulties that care managers face in their everyday work environment. Furthermore it emerged that care managers experience that they are too controlled by guidelines and laws which would therefore diminish their influence. The study is verifying of earlier research made in the same field.

    Abstract [en]

    In pace with changes in society, and as the number of youth with mental illness increases, the forms of help available to youth with mental health issues also develop and change. The evolution of the internet, among other things, has resulted in traditional forms of help, where the one meets a professional face-to-face, being supplemented with online forms of help, such as online chats. In view of this development, this study aims to examine and compare the attitudes of young individuals towards seeking help for mental illnesses from a counselor and an online chat. This thesis will be accomplished using a quantitative approach where paper questionnaires are used as a data collection method. A total of 223 questionnaires were answered by adolescents aged 15-20 years in the Stockholm area. The study’s results show that respondents feel more secure with and trust towards a counselor’s help and are also more likely to seek this form of help than online chat.  Responses varied in regards to what affected attitudes toward each form of assistance, but ease of access, trust and the medium of communication was reported to be the main factors affecting willingness to seek the help of a counselor, while lack of trust and stigma were the main factors contributing to reluctance. The respondents who were willing to seek help from an online chat stated however that accessibility and anonymity were primary factors. The majority who could not imagine seeking such online assistance stated lack of confidence and awareness as well as medium of communication as the foremost explanations. The study also showed that respondents are not only more willing to seek help for mental illness from a counselor than through online chat; they also have more experience in seeking this type of support. The factors that respondents felt to be positive and/or negative with their experience differed considerably from those factors that influenced the respondents' attitudes toward seeking help from a counselor or an online chat. Respondents drew attention to factors like the professionals' attitude and whether they received help with his or her problem as factors that characterized their experiences. Generally, however, the majority of respondents’ had positive experiences of seeking help from both counselors and online chats.

    Syftet med vår uppsats är att öka kunskapen om anhöriga till äldre immigranter såsom omsorgsgivare, i uppsatsen kallade ”sent-i-livet-immigranter”, med särskilt fokus på upplevelser om valmöjligheter ifråga om omsorgsrollen.  Vi var intresserade av hur det kommer sig att anhöriga går in i en omsorgsroll i förhållande till den äldre och vilka andra formella/informella omsorgsgivare det finns kring honom eller henne. Slutligen var vi intresserade av att ta reda på om anhörigvårdare anser att de har en valmöjlighet att gå ur/lämna sin omsorgsroll till någon annan om det skulle vara deras önskan.

    Vi har utfört fem semistrukturerade intervjuer med anhöriga till sent-i-livet-immigranter där de har en betydande omsorgsroll. Vår metod utgick ifrån en kvalitativ och induktiv forsknings ansats. Vi analyserade materialet med hjälp av tidigare forskning samt utifrån det teoretiska begreppet skyddandets förnuft samt den s. k. coping-teorin.

    Studiens resultat visar att våra informanter går att kategorisera i två olika grupper: de anhöriga som gjort ett mer aktivt val och de som gjort ett mindre aktivt val att ta hand om sin äldre. Vi har även kunnat urskilja fyra olika teman som återkommer bland våra informanters svar: synen på den offentliga omsorgen, vi och de, hinder och tillfredsställelse och hur de ser på valet att gå in och ut ur en omsorgsroll. Vi har även med våra resultat kunnat bekräfta det teoretiska begreppet skyddandets förnuft då vi sett att – oavsett om våra informanter gjort ett mer eller mindre aktivt val – samtliga informanter har skyddandet av sina äldre gemensamt.
